Living along one of Basel's biggest Parks
The project shows a possible strategy for a partial future urbanization of the former shooting range at Allschwiler Weiher near Basel.
The proposed guidelines concentrate the housing program along the perimeter while keeping the green space as free as possible. At the same time, this approach enables a continuity in between the open green and the gricultural areas to the close by urban parks. The building location on the ridge of the hill guarantees spectacular views over the city on one side and great views to the park and the water on the other side for almost every apartment.
As a result of densifying along the property lines, the former shooting area with it's unique landscape could be developed into a public urban park, which functions as a green transition space in between the green urban network and the rural landscape of the adjacent woods and local recreation areas.
