The Novartis Campus Plus project accelerates the development of northern Basel. These areas have long been under development, but the Novartis Campus and other infrastructural projects which are under way in the area allow city development on a grander scale.
In the project, three new parks are connected by a boardwalk. All of them have a direct connection to the Rhine river. The newly installed tramway connects that axis with the nearby French border.
By proposing two new bridges, the promenade establishes a connection with two other important development areas on the opposite side of the river: the port of Kleinhüningen and the Klybeckquai. Both areas will also be developed in the near future.
