Im Oristal Garden City

A centrally located neglected former industrial parcel of 4'957 m2 in Liestal is being transformed into a vivid, mixed-use quarter with an international school, a gymnasium, 120 workspaces and 101 tiny homes, apartments and townhouses – all with a strong architectural identity and strong ecological concept.

The two semi-public buildings create a protective buffer for two calm courtyards surrounded by residences of diverse typologies divided into three subgroups: 86 tiny homes, 10 family apartments, and 5 townhouses alongside several communal spaces. Designed with care for those wanting a smaller ecological footprint, the tiny homes occupy a space between 36 and 42 m2. If, however, the need arises, these can also be combined to create larger living units.

The generous 120 m2 apartments are meant for families, whereas the five 125 m2 townhouses flanking these apartments are meant to fulfil the dream of owning a house. Ground-floor apartments come with double ceiling heights and a recessed mezzanine. The graduated building perimeters allow most residences to have private terraces, generous natural light, and views towards the green spaces along the waterway of the Orisbach.

Mobility requirements are met through a large bicycle basement, car-sharing, bike and scooter programs and a unidirectional underground garage that also offers drop-off spaces for students.
